Fragrance Oils
Whether you’re taking your first steps in candle making, or want to push your expertise further, one of the most effective ways of getting more from the craft is by experimenting with the use of different fragrances.
The variety of fragrance oils on offer is truly mind-boggling, but at Randall’s Candles we have teamed up with a select group of highly reputable suppliers to bring you a range that offers the highest quality, with something for all seasons, times of day and moods.
Oils are a key way of creating a specific mood and atmosphere, and scientists spend many hours coming up with new formulations, all designed to tap into a corner of a market which is already healthy, but is continuing to expand at a great pace!
Many customers buy their fragrance oils with confidence from us at Randall’s Candles, because each of our product listings features a detailed breakdown of their composition, and recommendations for each one’s ideal application.
You can buy your fragrance oils from us in various quantities, from a 10ml tester, right up to five-litre containers. If you are learning the ropes in candle or scent diffuser-making, we strongly recommend that you try a variety of our testers to start with.
This is because, once the tamper-proof seal on larger bottles of oils has been broken, the composition of the scent is changed permanently, so it cannot be re-sold. For this reason, we can only accept returns on 500ml, 1 litre and 5 litre containers where the tamper-proof lid is still intact.
How Do I Choose The Right Fragrance Oil?
Fragrance oil manufacturers spend a great deal of time and effort on trying to mimic popular aromas, and the main characteristics of best-selling scents, perfumes and even household products.
But another side to the business is involved with seeking out new inspirations for scents, and adapting to evolving tastes and trends.
Different fragrance oils may also come into their own in a particular setting and at a specific time of day, depending on how the atmosphere around them changes with time.
So the first things to consider are the likely environment in which and time of day when you will experience the aroma of your fragrance oil. For instance, a fragrance oil intended for use on a warm summer’s afternoon can be much lighter and more subtle than one meant for an autumn or winter evening.
With so much variety to the products available, you really can create the backdrop to your perfect world using fragrance oils from our extensive range.
Randall’s Candles is your one-stop shop for everything to do with fragrance oils and candles, and we’re happy to share our many years’ knowledge and experience to help you choose your perfect fragrance oil, or mix of oils, for any occasion.

Fragrance Oils FAQs
How long will fragrance oil keep for?
Most fragrance oils are formulated to have a shelf life of six to 12 months. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight is their worst enemy, however. So always keep your oils in a cool, dark place, such as a cupboard.
You should also keep the lids on your oil containers tightly sealed to avoid the risk of them becoming contaminated through exposure to oxygen in the air (oxidisation).
What is the difference between essential oils and fragrance oils?
Essential oils are made from completely natural ingredients. They are made by extracting the oil of plants, fruits and herbs using processes such as steam distillation and solvent extraction.
Fragrance oils, on the other hand, create their smells by the use of synthetic materials, and the aromas are enhanced by further additions of chemicals.
Is it safe to mix different fragrance oils?
Combining fragrances is a great way of exploring potential new ones which might suit your personal tastes. There are generally no rules when doing this, and the biggest fragrance oil producers are continually experimenting with new blends,
Fragrances generally consist of three elements, a top, middle and base note. Each of these may have different, distinct characteristics. It is the way in which all three combine which produces a pleasing scent. So experiment away!
